DUST COMMANDER filters are cyclonic separators which may be used in combination with a vacuum cleaner in the home or in industry.
When installed upstream of your vacuum cleaner, the cyclonic filter separates wet and dry dust particles.
A mixture of air and dust passes through the filter via the tangential inlet.
The shape of the filter is designed to generate a vortex which makes it possible to evacuate particles heavier than air through the lower discharge port through gravity and so allow air to pass through the upper outlet.
Save money on buying new filters for your shop vac. A DUST COMMANDER filter typically pays for itself in a few months.
99% of all vacuumed particles are separated from the air flow and collected in the bottom container.
Your vacuum cleaner's paper or cartridge filter stays clean longer ensuring a strong and constant vacuum flow.
Works better than expected. I have it hooked up to an old Dyson at one end and a length of 32mm hose at the other. The dust is collected into a 30 litre airtight storage container which was also bought from Amazon. The only challenge is that if the inlet hose gets block it will collapse the storage container and it's a nightmare to get the dents out of it. That's not the fault of the Dust Commander though. That works a treat. I've so far managed to hook it up to a circular saw and later to a router. In both cases it made working with those tools so much more pleasant due to it catching most of the sawdust (I'd estimate 95%). Just this weekend I had to remove a granite worktop (in about a million pieces) and this setup worked perfectly for cleaning up the smaller debris. All the dust etc. ended up in the container and none made it to the Dyson. Brilliant. The builder (who uses a 'henry') was so impressed he is going to make one himself.
I considered making my own Thein separator for my Henry vacuum cleaner that I use in my work shop, particularly as it is a pain to regularly empty after power planing with an electric hand plane. However I am very glad I decided to go down the bought cyclone route as it works very well. It comes with a self adhesive template, which allows you to cut the hole to mount the cyclone to your drop box and position the provided screws to attach it. I have used a small clear plastic seed container, which is fine but because of the height of the cyclone and the hose from your vacuum cleaner coming in through the top it keeps falling over. Although it carries on working on its side! So I need to either use a bigger more stable container or attach it to a wooden base. The unit itself is relatively small, which is fine and seems very robust, made of thick plastic, it feels like it will last a long time. The real question is does it work? Well I only received it today but even with my thrown together container and connections it sucks up the dust, swirls it around impressively and deposits it in the bottom of your container.
I am very impressed.
These are seemingly simple devices but getting the shape of the cone and the position of the in and out pipes just right is tricky (I have made them). This does the job well letting very little fine dust through to the vacuum. This is made a of a tough impact proof plastic they do a cheaper one in white (I have one).
I had an old burned out workshop vac so I took the motor off and cut a hole for the DLX works really well. Really powerful and just right for the small workshop,i would recommend it to anyone.
Well, what can I say? This little beauty comes in a clear bag, stapled closed, with only a drilling guide. But, go on YouTube and all you need to see and know is there. After watching a video, I decided that this should be just the thing for my small workshop. How right was I!! It works every bit as well as those items priced WAY over this. However, I did have a problem finding hose adaptors that fit. So I made my own, no problem - 15 mins work and worth every second. I don't know why I didn't but one ages ago. I cant recommend this highly enough, get a 30 lyr conyainer and you'll never look back, I know I wont.....BUY IT NOW lol
